About Us
The Carter House Collective is a curated marketplace in the heart of downtown Vanceburg, Kentucky, twelve thousand square feet of antique, boutique, and artisan vendors at the corner of Second and Main.
The Carter House has always been one of Vanceburg's most beloved buildings. It's been a hotel, a department store, and plenty in between since 1897, the kind of place that hosted dinners, music, and gatherings that were part of downtown's rhythm. It sat quiet for a while. We're bringing it back, and you can read its whole story on our history page.
Inside, you'll find dozens of makers, collectors, and small businesses spread across two rooms. Antique dealers with genuine vintage finds, refinished furniture, and pieces you can't plan for. Boutiques with curated clothing, gifts, candles, and home goods you won't see at the mall. Artisans selling pottery, woodwork, jewelry, soap, and original art made by hand. It's curated, not crowded, the kind of place you slow down in. Nothing about it feels like a flea market.
But the Collective is more than shopping. There's a stage for live music, a commercial kitchen, room to gather, and a free Local Authors Shelf for writers from around the region. We're building out a calendar to match, from open mic nights and Food Truck Fridays to classes and workshops upstairs. A marketplace should feel like a gathering place, and that's what we're after.
More than anything, we want to give folks a reason to come back downtown.
Vanceburg is a river town with deep roots, just 90 minutes from Lexington and 90 minutes from Cincinnati, and we think it's worth the trip.
We run on one rule: community over competition. Every vendor here is rooting for the next one, and we'd rather see this whole town win than any one of us.
Come see us on Second Street. Pull up a chair and stay awhile.
